Ordinary is boring.
More often than not, we walk into a home and know what to expect.
The same thing over the bed, and the same thing over the mantel,
and if there is another blank wall,
well - expect a mirror or framed art.

Not that I'm saying its a bad thing.
I love mirrors and paintings....

It gets your juices flowing.
It's creative.
It's fun.....

Artistically challenged???
all that is needed to create color blocks
is the ability to tape a straight line
create diamonds with 2" tape on a feature wall
or try simple stripes

Collections always have more impact when displayed together
In a child's room, creativity has no bounds.
You can create a wall clock that takes up the entire wall -
with half globes and a clock kit
or create a habitat for your feathered friends
This Pottery Barn room shows all the reasons dimensional art is a great medium for walls. How perfect is this room - including the boat bed, of course!
I also love the combination of dimensional objects with framed art or photos
Dimensional art makes for a very interesting - definitely NOT boring - walls
shoe box lids hold a child's rock collection
in family areas, dimensional art is a great way to display collections

CREATE YOUR OWN ART

http://www.thecraftingchicks.com/
Dividing a favorite photo of your child in their favorite activity into panels is a wonderful way to add art to their room, and even better, it promotes self esteem and pleasant memories
Photos are also wonderful additions to family and grown-up areas

divide and blow up to the size you want, paste onto boards or canvases
You can decoupage graphic paper onto boards and group together to create a larger work of art
(considering the amount of wallpaper and scrapbook paper available
its safe to say the sky is the limit on this type of artwork)
just imagine the possibilities
http://www.sassysanctuary.blogspot.com/
this also translates well to other areas in the home

Embroidery hoops filled with fabrics add a colorful pop
and if you really have a lot of time on your hands
you can cover a wall in jigsaw puzzle pieces
(I think it looks amazing)
http://www.ifitshipitshere.blogspot.com/
or doodle your own wallpaper with a Sharpie.
Now, that's patience!
How are your creative juices now?
Best wishes,
